Decommissioning

Over the coming years many offshore installations will have to be decommissioned as they approach the limits of their economic life. The degree to which this process has to be undertaken is dependent on current legislation and future changes to this legislation as environmental and NGO's impact upon it and may vary throughout the world.

e+p are able to advise on this procedure from both engineering and management standpoints. Our personnel are uniquely qualified to assist clients with the process as they have been involved in recent decommissioning projects such as Hamilton's Esmond project.

An decommissioning project comprises many different activities which must be satisfied before cessation of operations and removal may commence, such as:

Establishing the field economic cut-off point

 Preparation of production cessation documentation

Preparing the decommissioning Safety Case to ensure safe
    operations throughout the project

An environmental statement may be a requirement

Ensuring safe decommissioning of production, water and
    injection wells

 Detailed engineering of the process

The process of deconstruction and removal of facilities

Identification of adequate construction sites for further disposal
    or storage requirements

Other disposal options should be reviewed such as re-use of
equipment and resale to third party vendors

Our consultant's are able to assist in all areas including operational, safety and installation aspects.
