Sustainability Case Study

CARBON TRUST – Marine Energy Accelerator Project

Carbon Trust

Energy and Power is appointed under a framework agreement to assist marine energy developers in Strand C of the Carbon Trust’s Marine Energy Accelerator project. Under this initiative the Carbon Trust seeks to speed the advance and development of offshore marine power generation technologies by funding the involvement of specialists to supplement developers’ in-house expertise.

ALKANE ENERGY – Biomass Power

Alkane

Based upon an available 400-500 tonnes of dry “feed” per week, Energy and Power reviewed the potential options including pyrolysis, gasification, anaerobic digestion and combustion/incineration. Capital costs, reliability, proven installed technology, size of footprint and capacity of power generated were considered for each option.
